We’re constantly searching for fresh ideas for keeping my family organized, home and schedule as organized as possible, so today we have listed my top 5 tips and tricks for getting your family organised – some of which work well for my family and some of which my friends have mentioned have worked for them.

Mums are always looking for ways to save money and time, but often their busy schedules or increased responsibilities leave little time for them as they try to take care of kids or cook dinner from scratch! Here are five clever suggestions for how mums can simplify tasks so that they can accomplish what they need to do without feeling overwhelmed by unnecessary work on top of everything else they have going on. Your world can be calmer and more organized if you follow these suggestions.

You’ll be an organised mum with these life hacks…

  1. Keep a family calendar

Family calendars are a great way for everyone to see the whole family’s activities in one place. Make sure you write down notes or invitations that arrive at your door or into your email inbox as soon as possible so that you don’t forget them. Include all the information for any commitments – dates, times, address, and what to bring. You can find templates at https://familyplanner.co.nz/ that will help you stay on top of everyday family life.

  1. Make sure you wake up before your children

Let’s face it: mornings can be difficult. Whether your kids wake up at 6am (or earlier!) Starting the day on the back foot is a great way to get that little energy going! It’s a great idea to set the alarm clock for before they get out of bed.

Get a head start on the day by waking up 30 minutes before your kids, or even 10 minutes before they do. Before the chaos of the morning begins, you can wash your face and dress before the morning chaos begins. Depending on the time you wake up, you might even have the chance to read your Facebook headlines in peace while sipping a cup of coffee in peace.

  1. List the tasks to be completed

Even if you think it’s tedious, your daily routine is a necessary part of life. You may not realise the steps in order from waking up to getting out on time each morning and putting kids to bed at night but they follow this same pattern for all families without fail! Find a weekly planner that suits your style to help stay organised as the week progresses.

A way to make sure that everyone is on task and accomplishing what needs done in a timely manner, is creating a checklist for yourself and one for your children that clearly shows each of our responsibilities. Stick these lists on the fridge so you can work through them every morning/afternoon e.g., make bed, eat breakfast together as a family unit before starting off in school mode all over again. This will help ensure no one has forgotten anything too important!

  1. Meal Plan

One of the best tips to stay on top of your meal plan is by writing it out. It may be a little overwhelming at first, but once you have some inspiration and creativity flowing in what was previously empty space, this process becomes easier with every passing week!

Before you head into your next grocery store, write down what meals for each week look like on paper! It’ll be easy with this list in hand when it comes dinnertime (or lunch)!

  1. Discipline is key

When you finally get to sit down and relax, take the opportunity of an evening meal with your loved one. After all that time spent cooking or making lunches for tomorrow morning’s school run, it feels just about perfect!

Towards the end of the day, when your kids are finally in bed, it is tempting to sit down in front of the TV with a glass of wine. Don’t do it yet! Prepare your kids’ morning clothes, their lunch boxes, and their bags the night before. Then, give your kitchen and living room a quick tidy-up. Having a clean and orderly home in the mornings can help you start your day with a clean slate.
