Tip: Bees love lavender. So expect to see a lot of them while visiting a lavender farm, however, they will generally not be interested in you, but if they are disturbed they might sting.

CCT Lavender Farm in Karaka

Where: 242 Urquhart Road, Karaka 2580, New Zealand

When: Tuesday-Sunday 8:30am-16:00pm

Entry: Free

Enjoy the purple waves at CCT Lavender Farm in Karaka, this beautiful lavender farm is a must-visit for everyone. A stunning farm that is open all year round. As well as the breathtaking sights of lovely Lavender they have a delightful cafe that serves delicious food and drinks. 

This lavender farm in New Zealand officially became an organic certified lavender farm in 2018 in Karaka in South Auckland and is committed to avoiding any chemical pesticides and using organic growing methods to keep a healthy nature.



Lavender Hill Farm in Riverhead

Where: Coatesville Lavender Hill, 11 Beacon Road, Coatesville Auckland, 0793, New Zealand

When: Open year-round, but the best time is from December through to the end of January

Take a trip to one of New Zealand’s most popular lavender farms where you can experience a farm tour where you’ll learn about the history of the farm, see how lavender oil is made, learn about extra virgin olive oil, enjoy tastings of the farm’s gin and limoncello and you can even feed the alpacas!

Leafy Hollow in Waiuku

Where: 66 Duff Road, Waiuku 2682, New Zealand

When: The lavender garden is open from the end of September until the end of March

Entry: Garden admission $5 per adult | Children, under 14 years – free

Take a trip to Leafy Hollow in Waiuku and wander through 2 acres of established gardens with meandering pathways leading through aromatic herbs, fragrant lavender, and rosemary beds. 

You can also purchase fresh and dried lavender as well as an assortment of lavender products.



Lavender Backyard Garden in Hamilton

Where: 398 Marshmeadow Road, Newstead 3284, New Zealand

When: Farm shop is open 9:00 am – 5:00 pm 7 Days a week from November to Feb. Lavender and Blueberry season normally starts around early December

Entry: Lavender field – Sightseeing & Casual Photos: $3 per person. Kids under 3 are free

Pick Your Own Lavenders: $10 a jar ring of flowers

Blueberry Field entry fee: $4 per person (fruits are not included). Kids under 3 are free

Pick Your Own Blueberry: $12 per kg

Lavender Backyard Garden is a small, family-owned lavender and blueberry farm in Newstead, Hamilton, New Zealand, and is open during December – January with summer activities of pick-your-own lavender and blueberries. The farm also produces its own products that smell as fresh as the fields themselves. Perfect if you want to leave with a little reminder of your visit.



Alphra Lavender in Te Awamutu, Waikato

With spectacular picture-perfect views, this lovely lavender farm is as lovely as can be. And another one worth paying a visit. Alphra Lavender in Te Awamutu, Waikato is vibrant, lively, and as pretty as can be. This wonderful lavender farm grows a variety of lavender-  which include (Grosso, Pacific Blue & Super) which are grown for commercial production of essential oil of lavender, and a fourth variety (Impress Purple) which they grow for dried lavender & rubbings.

Lauren’s Lavender Farm in Taumarunui

Where: 1381 River Road, Forgotten Highway, Aukopae 3991, New Zealand

When: Open from the end of October, through until the middle of May – 9:00 am to 4:00 pm

Treat your senses to bright sights, floral smells, and fragrant flavours with a day trip to Lauren’s Lavender Farm in Taumarunui. This farm grows around 8,000 lavender plants and they are in full bloom from the end of December until early March.

This is a place that you don’t want to miss. The location, the setting, the beautiful gardens, and gorgeous lavender bushes is the perfect place for a day out or an end of the day stop after by the Forgotten World Highway. Also, this Lavender Farm lies next to the famous Whanganui River and there is also a café that has a wide selection of muffins & cakes, tea, coffee, and cold drinks.

Ranui Essentials Lavender Farm in Martinborough

Ranui Essentials Lavender Farm is nestled a short drive from Martinborough overlooking the Wairarapa Tararua Ranges. The lavender fields can only be visited from November – February and you can join a guided tour of the farm where Tracy will go into detail about how their four varieties of lavender grow.  The shop is open to the public and is open most weekends 10:00am – 3:00pm.

Wanaka Lavender Farm is just a few minutes from Wanaka, where you can experience 20 acres of beautiful lavender fields, farm animals & display gardens.

Looking for a perfect little day trip? Head to Wanaka lavender farm and get your wellness fix at this blooming lovely lavender farm, we recommend you go between the months of December to February. If you’re not visiting in the summer season, worry not, you can still visit the farm and enjoy the other beautiful blooms, the farm animals, and the tea room at the farm.
